EXHIBITION OVERVIEW
For Australian Indigenous peoples, water is regarded as an ancestral, living Being and holds a significant place in their mythical narratives. The Foundation Burkhardt-Felder explores the multifaceted theme of water in its new exhibition NGAPA Living Water.
The nearly forty artworks from its collection of contemporary Aboriginal Art reveal an exceptional variety of artistic expressions. A tranquil ochre painting by Rover Thomas Joolama, a brilliant acrylic by Elizabeth Nyumi Nungurrayi, an intricate composition by Wentja Napaltjarri, a fascinating depiction of glowing salt lakes by Konstantina, and many more highlight the cultural and spiritual connections the artists maintain with the precious element of water.
